CBN asks students to pay school fees with eNaira

Must read

Students are recommended to use the eNaira platform to pay for school expenses and other payments by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The suggestion was made at an eNaira awareness event held at the University of Lagos in Akoka, Lagos.

Rakiya Muhammed, the CBN’s director of information technology and coordinator of the technical working group for the eNaira Secretariat, said the campaign was a part of the central bank’s efforts to make sure that no segment of Nigerian society is excluded from having access to the digital currency.

Muhamed said: “We have been engaging a number of organizations, number of groups, institutions, and students as part of the objective is to bring everyone on board; that is every Nigerian. Muhamed was represented at the event by an official in the Information Technology Department of the apex bank, Khalipha Nuhu. We therefore do not abandon anyone.

We also want to engage students, and what better place is there than a university? Therefore, the purpose of our visit today is to interact with the University of Lagos community and students in order to inform them about eNaira and encourage them to use the platform. In response to a query on the special advantages of the digital currency for students,”You may use eNaira for a number of things,” the CBN Director remarked. The eNaira can be used for a variety of purposes, including paying school tuition.
