ASUU knocks Gov Yusuf over dissolution of university governing council

The Academic Staff Union of the Universities (ASUU) at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology in Wudil, Kano, has expressed disapproval of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s decision to dissolve the university’s Governing Council. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Chairman of the ASUU chapter at the university, Dr. Aliyu Yusuf Ahmad, and the Secretary, Dr. Mudasir Nasiru, characterized the dissolution as inappropriate.

The union raised concerns about the university continuing to operate without a Governing Council following its dissolution, which it stated is a violation of the provisions of the Kano University Amended Law of 2017. The ASUU chapter called on the governor to swiftly reestablish the Governing Council as a matter of urgency to prevent disruption of academic activities at the university.

Furthermore, the union appealed to the governor to settle all outstanding staff entitlements.
