EPL: It’s a shame – Man Utd told to sack Ten Hag immediately

Former Liverpool player Danny Murphy has suggested that Manchester United should terminate the contract of their manager, Erik ten Hag, immediately following their humiliating 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth in the Premier League over the weekend.

Expressing his disappointment, Murphy believes it’s regrettable but necessary for Manchester United to part ways with Ten Hag, asserting that the Red Devils’ managerial position may have come too soon for him.

Following Bournemouth’s convincing victory at Old Trafford on Saturday, Ten Hag’s team now finds themselves in sixth position on the Premier League table.

Murphy commented on the situation, stating, “The victory over Chelsea in midweek papered over the cracks. Chelsea cut through them countless times. Bournemouth scored three, and it could have been four. This result was only confirmation that United are in trouble.”

Highlighting the potential risks ahead for Manchester United, Murphy emphasized the importance of avoiding a scenario where they suffer a significant defeat at Anfield, drawing attention to their previous 7-2 loss there in March. He suggested that a similar collapse could prompt a managerial change.

While Murphy had initially thought Manchester United might give Ten Hag until the end of the season, he now believes that for the club to achieve its goals, a change in management might be necessary immediately. Despite expressing sympathy for Ten Hag as a likeable individual, Murphy suggests that the Manchester United job may have been a bit premature for him.

High-ranking officials at Manchester United are expressing apprehension over the possibility of Thomas Tuchel encountering conflicts with the club’s leadership if he is appointed to replace Erik ten Hag.

Tuchel is set to depart from Bayern Munich at the conclusion of this season, a decision that was announced as early as February. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the new co-owner, along with his INEOS associates, are reportedly deliberating on Ten Hag’s future and considering potential replacements.

Among the candidates being discussed, Tuchel, who has previously managed Chelsea in the Premier League, has emerged as a prominent name.

However, as per reports from The Times, there are reservations regarding Tuchel’s track record of disagreements with higher-ups at his previous clubs. His tenure at Mainz ended in 2014 amid disputes with directors over transfer finances, while he was dismissed from Borussia Dortmund three years later due to a breakdown in trust between himself and the club’s board.
