Nollywood actress Ini Obong Edo has disclosed the reason behind her single status at the age of 41, citing the search for genuine love as the primary factor. Speaking on Toke Makinwa’s podcast, the actress emphasized her reluctance to engage in a toxic relationship.

According to Edo, her singleness is attributed to her desire for a sincere and profound love. She clarified that while she encounters love, finding reciprocal and committed love has been elusive. The actress articulated her unwillingness to be in a relationship that lacks a positive and protective energy.

She expressed her perspective, stating, “I am still single because I just want somebody that would really love me. That’s all. I’m not asking for too much. Not like I don’t see love. Loving somebody and being loved are two different things. You can love someone but you are not ready to be committed. Maybe this is why I’m still single: I can’t be in a toxic relationship.”

Edo highlighted the importance of mutual respect in a relationship, stating that she cannot be with a man she does not respect. She emphasized that a lack of respect would lead to disrespect and that she values qualities such as kindness, irrespective of financial status.

The actress was previously married to American-based businessman Philip Ehiagwina, with the marriage lasting five years before concluding in 2013. In 2021, Ini Edo shared the joyous news of welcoming her first child, a daughter, through surrogacy.
