Napoli forward Victor Osimhen is on the verge of a €120 million (£103m/$129m) move to Paris Saint-Germain, dealing a setback to Chelsea’s transfer ambitions. Several prominent European clubs had been considering a move for the Super Eagles striker this summer. However, negotiations between Napoli and PSG are progressing well, according to reports from Italian outlet Il Mattino.

PSG is keen to outmaneuver competitors like Chelsea in securing Osimhen’s signature. The French club plans to activate Osimhen’s €120m release clause and offer him a lucrative four-year contract worth €13m (£11m/$14m) annually.

Chelsea’s financial limitations and the pressing need to comply with the Premier League’s Profit & Sustainability Regulations (PSR) have led them to withdraw from the race for Osimhen.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has compiled a list of seven coaches as potential candidates for the vacant position of head coach of the Super Eagles.

According to a report from SCORENigeria, Finidi George, the current interim head coach of the team, is among those shortlisted for the role. Finidi recently led the Super Eagles in friendly matches against Ghana and Mali.

The NFF declared the head coach position vacant earlier this month following the expiration of the contract of the former coach, Jose Peseiro. Peseiro guided the Super Eagles to a second-place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

Reports suggest that the NFF received applications from both local and foreign coaches for the position.

The football governing body is expected to announce the appointment of a permanent head coach for the Super Eagles next month.
