The Forum of All Progressives Congress State Chairmen has expressed full support for the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, by passing a vote of confidence in him.

A delegation comprising 37 state party chairmen asserted that there was an attempted coup to oust Ganduje from his position as APC National Chairman, but it was unsuccessful.

This declaration was made during a solidarity visit to the party’s secretariat in Abuja, where they reaffirmed their loyalty to Ganduje.

The acting chairman of the forum and Lagos APC chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, stated that they stand firmly behind Ganduje and are prepared to defend him against any external threats.

“We want to assure you that you remain the leader of our party. The individuals who announced your removal were not recognized members of the party to begin with. We will not allow you to face the same embarrassment as former chairmen of the party.”

“What they attempted was akin to a coup, but their efforts have been thwarted. Our presence here signifies our unwavering support for you at all times,” he emphasized.

Katsina PDP crisis deepens as CTC accuses faction of collaborating with APC to destroy party

The Katsina State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee has addressed an escalating internal conflict that threatens to undermine the party’s preparations for upcoming political events.

Speaking to the media, the committee’s spokesperson, Lawal Audi Yar’adua, aimed to clarify recent disputes raised by a faction led by former party chairman Salisu Uli. Yar’adua dismissed Uli’s claims as “misleading information.”

According to a DAILY POST report from June 19, 2024, Uli had alleged that five days before the scheduled end of form sales for the congress elections, the forms had not been made available by the committee. Yar’adua countered this, stating that the form sales had been transparently conducted and concluded over two months prior, during which Uli’s faction did not participate due to their contestation of the committee’s legitimacy.

Yar’adua suggested that Uli’s actions might be influenced by external political forces, particularly the Katsina APC, accusing Uli’s faction of ignoring national PDP directives regarding the congress. He alleged that Uli and his supporters, including House of Representatives member Salisu Majigiri, were aligned with elements within the APC aiming to weaken the Katsina PDP, especially following former Governor Ibrahim Shema’s defection to the APC.

Yar’adua called for party unity in the face of these destabilizing attempts and praised Senator Lado Danmarke for his leadership and commitment to the people of Katsina State. He contrasted Danmarke’s dedication with those intent on creating division within the party.

“Senator Lado Danmarke embodies the true spirit of service and compassion that defines our party. His unwavering commitment to the people of Katsina State sets him apart from those whose only agenda is to sow discord and division,” Yar’adua stated.

He expressed confidence in the PDP’s resilience and urged members to stay steadfast in their support despite internal challenges.

Thousands of supporters from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties in Benue State have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

This occurred in Sankera, Kwande, and Ushongo local government areas on Wednesday during Governor Hyacinth Alia’s state-wide thank-you tour.

Speaking at events held at Katsina-Ala township stadium and LGEA primary school in Kwande town, Governor Alia expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support during the last elections. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to returning all internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by armed herdsmen attacks to their ancestral homes to resume normal farming activities.

Governor Alia highlighted the severe impact of armed bandit attacks on the Sankera axis, a major yam production hub. He emphasized that security is a shared responsibility and called on everyone to help eliminate these attacks.

He encouraged the formation of cooperative societies for receiving farm inputs and other benefits from his administration to foster self-reliance. He dismissed widespread reports of borrowing large sums from foreign institutions for infrastructural projects.

You want Nigerians to offer themselves as burnt offerings – CUPP tackles Tinubu

Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, has slammed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing him of doing very little or nothing to solve the hunger issues Nigerians are going through.

In a statement by its National Secretary, Chief Peter Ameh, the Coalition said the President had deployed what it described as incompetent government policies which have all failed, wondering why Nigerians would now offer themselves as burnt offerings while government officials lived in luxury.

The Coalition further noted that the inability of the government to secure farms and farmers in the country was also a major contributor to the hunger being faced by the people.

“The luxurious lifestyle of our leaders is the reason we are in this mess, because those in government have misplaced priorities and have vehemently refused to do right by our people.

“Rather they prefer to spend money on white elephant projects that require high expenditure but never deliver returns or serve no useful purpose, like the proposal for a new private jet for the President.

“Such money should have been channeled towards the development of projects that will have lasting positive impact on the lives of citizens,” Ameh said in the statement.

He added that, “The President and his Vice have spent over N8.64bn on travel expenses within the last three months while he continues to give speeches and false promises about plans to cut public spending; still, the cost associated with the running of government in Nigeria is far higher than most countries in the same economy bracket.

“The wasteful spending of those elected to oversee the affairs of running our government is a major contributor to the endemic poverty in Nigeria and the president should be concerned about the situation of the suffering masses and work hard to ensure that this situation improves for those affected (which is everyone by the way).

“Nigeria has a poverty rate of 38.9%, and approximately 87 million Nigerians live below poverty line and the reason can easily be attributed to incompetent and clueless leaders who have done nothing to improve the lives of the masses.

“Nigeria’s economic growth has been slow, and the country’s GDP per capita has been flat because successive government policies have failed to address the problems due to lack of foresight and corrupt public officials.

“Corruption is a pervasive issue in Nigeria, and it discourages foreign investment and hinders economic development. I am referring to corruption in public office by government officials who have been involved in stealing public funds meant to benefit the people.

“What has Tinubu done to tackle that since his assumption of office and he is talking about ordinary citizens whose take home pay is not enough to help them meet a good standard of living.”
