The leadership of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has reaffirmed its president’s commitment to building a strong and united front for the union. This was conveyed in the 2025 May Day message jointly signed by ASCSN President, Comrade Shehu Mohammed, and Secretary-General, Comrade Joshua Apebo, and shared with LEADERSHIP.
“As we join millions of Nigerian workers and others around the world in celebrating the 2025 May Day, we call on our members to renew their trust and dedication to the Union’s National Leadership under Comrade Shehu Mohammed,” the statement read.
The ASCSN assured its members that the leadership is actively working to reposition the union for greater effectiveness in championing workers’ welfare across the nation.
The statement also highlighted key issues the union is addressing, including the payment of outstanding salaries, promotion and elongation arrears, the first 28 days allowance in lieu of hotel accommodation, the reinstatement of gratuities for public servants, and the creation of vacancies to prevent career stagnation—especially at the Directorate level.
