The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, in collaboration with the family of late former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala has inaugurated a primary health centre in Yaku, Oriire local government area of the state.
The project was to honour the life and legacy of the late former Governor Alao-Akala.
The ground-breaking ceremony was to celebrate the 75th posthumous birthday of the late Alao-Akala and part of the 25-year development plan of Ogbomoso land championed by Oba Olaoye.
Speaking at the event, Oba Olaoye described Otunba Alao-Akala as a giant, patriotic leader, and a legend who led with unmatched dedication.
“This isn’t just a remembrance, it’s a celebration of purpose. Ogbomoso land remembers a man who carried this land in his heart and on his shoulders. Today, his name continues to inspire progress.
“Special thanks to High Chief Ojewumi Oyeniyi Sunday, the Baale of Yaku, and the entire Yaku community for your selflessness in releasing land for the development of our homeland. Your gesture is a gift to generations,” he said.
The monarch expressed appreciation to the chairman of the medical and health committee of the 25-year developmental plan and the Director of Primary Health Care in the Ministry of Health for their tireless leadership in bringing world-class healthcare to the people.
“To the Alao-Akala family, thank you for allowing us to immortalise Otunba’s name through the Alao-Akala Primary Health Care Centre in Yaku. This is more than a building; it is a symbol of enduring love and service.
“As we lay the foundation for this centre today, we aren’t just building a structure — we’re cementing a legacy. A legacy of compassion, service, leadership that put people first.
“Otunba Alao-Akala taught us that true leadership isn’t about titles, it’s about heart. And today we are challenged to ask ourselves, are we carrying Ogbomoso in our hearts the way he did?
“Wherever we find ourselves, may we never forget home, may we serve, may we build, may we invest. That’s how legacies are made, that’s how legends live on. May his memory continue to inspire us. May his legacy continue to guide us. May Ogbomoso land continue to rise,” Oba Olaoye said.
