I wish for better government in Nigeria – Wizkid

Afrobeats sensation Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known globally as Wizkid, has expressed his desire for improved governance in Nigeria and across the African continent.

Speaking at the premiere of his documentary “Wizkid: Long Live Lagos” during the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on Friday, the Starboy Entertainment founder highlighted the importance of good leadership as a crucial area for progress in Africa.

He also urged fellow African creatives to share their journeys, noting that his story represents many who come from similar humble beginnings.

“I hope every African artist gets the opportunity to share their story this way. I’m not the only one who came from that struggle—we all did,” he said.

Wizkid added that he remains hopeful for the growth of African culture in all sectors, from music to film and sports, and called for better governance across the continent.

“I always want to see more success for the culture. I wish for better leadership too. No matter what, I’m an optimistic person and I want the best for everyone creating incredible music and art from Africa,” he said.
