Police thwart kidnap plot in Adamawa, suspect caught at ransom drop point

Police operatives in Adamawa State have arrested a man over alleged threat to kidnap a target.

The suspect was nabbed at the place where he had asked to collect money in lieu of the kidnapping he threatened to carry out.

The state Police Command which disclosed this in a press release obtained Monday morning, said the operatives picked up the man after receiving a report on 7th June, 2025 from one Lamido Bello of Ungwan Faransa in Gombi LGA that his elder brother, Alhaji Dahiru of Kamsu village, was threatened by an unknown caller who demanded ₦1,000,000 or Alhaji Dahiru would be kidnapped

“In response, the Command swiftly initiated operation in collaboration with professional hunters. During the operation, one Manu Ahmadu, 32 years old, was apprehended at a certain location while attempting to pick up the package he demanded to be dropped at a particular place situated at a remote site of Kamsu village, Hong local government area,” the police explained

The release which was signed by Police Public Relations Officer Suleiman Nguroje, added that in the course of effecting the arrest, the suspect attempted to disarm one of the local security agents, prompting a defensive response leading to injury that resulted as a result of minimum force used.

“He was immediately taken to a medical facility and he is currently responding to treatment,” the police stated, assuring that the suspect would be charged to court after further investigation.
