NANISS mourns death of IBBU student, demands justice

The National Association of Niger State Students (NANISS) has expressed profound grief over the death of Abdulkareem, a 200-level student of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai.

In a statement released on Monday, the association described his death as a heartbreaking tragedy and urged the university authorities to take swift action to enhance security on campus.

“We are deeply saddened by the untimely death of our fellow student, Abdulkareem. His loss is a heavy blow not only to his family but to the entire student body in Niger State,” NANISS stated.

The group also joined students in a peaceful protest in Lapai on Monday, calling for immediate government and university intervention to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

“We call on the university administration and security agencies to take urgent and preventive measures to ensure the safety of students and their belongings. No student should have to live in constant fear,” the association added.

According to reports by DAILY POST, Abdulkareem was fatally stabbed in the neck by suspected robbers who invaded his residence in the Ndakikpabu area. He later succumbed to his injuries at the General Hospital in Lapai.

In response, the Niger State Police Command announced the deployment of tactical units to restore order and confirmed that an investigation into the incident is underway.
