In a major stride for community development, Onne Multipurpose Terminal (OMT) has unveiled a new solar-powered water project in Ogu, its host community in Rivers State.
The initiative features four solar-powered water systems, each with a 4,000-litre capacity, and is part of OMT’s continued commitment to its Safe Water Scheme, which was launched in 2023 to improve access to clean drinking water.
At the commissioning ceremony, OMT’s Managing Director, Nicolo Scannavini, highlighted the company’s strong dedication to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and its mission to enhance living standards in the communities it operates.
“We are pleased to inaugurate another phase of our Safe Water Scheme — four solar-powered water systems strategically placed throughout the community,” Scannavini said.
He added, “This builds on our earlier effort in 2023, when we installed three similar systems. These projects aim to address water shortages and foster a culture of clean and safe water in Ogu.”
