2027: Running mate talks humiliate Shettima — Udenta

Professor Udenta Udenta, the founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy, has criticized ongoing discussions about who will be President Bola Tinubu’s running mate in the 2027 elections, calling it disrespectful to Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Speaking on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television programme, on Monday, Udenta—who is also a fellow at the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought—expressed concern over the implications of such talks.

He pointed out that while governors and other influential members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have openly endorsed Tinubu for a second term, their silence on Shettima suggests a deliberate plan is in motion within the party.

Udenta also condemned the APC’s National Working Committee for stating that the decision on Tinubu’s running mate would only be made after the party’s convention, arguing that such uncertainty is inappropriate and sends the wrong message.
