2027: No joint ticket discussion between Atiku, Obi – Yunusa Tanko

Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the Interim National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, has clarified that there have been no talks between Mr. Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar regarding a possible joint ticket for the 2027 elections.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Tuesday, Tanko dismissed the speculation, stating, “That discussion hasn’t taken place. It’s purely speculation at this point.”

He did, however, confirm that ongoing consultations are taking place with political parties and stakeholders who share similar values.

Tanko emphasized that any future alliance must prioritize the national interest, rather than being based on political elites’ agendas.

He noted that the movement is currently focused on building a strong, inclusive coalition rooted in integrity and a commitment to serving Nigerians.

Tanko also mentioned that Peter Obi would be willing to serve only one term if that becomes a condition of a coalition agreement, reaffirming that Obi is a leader who keeps his promises.
