Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Senator Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, has demanded the immediate cancellation of the ongoing local government elections, citing widespread irregularities and alleged efforts to manipulate the outcome.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday morning, Bucknor-Akerele raised serious doubts about the integrity of the process, accusing electoral officials of attempting to rig the election in favour of a specific political party.
She claimed that many eligible voters, herself included, could not find their names on the voter register at their designated polling units.
“At my polling unit, they said they already had a list, but my name wasn’t on it,” she said.
She further alleged that there were disruptions at various polling stations and accused the election authorities of intentionally preventing people from voting.
“This election should be cancelled because there’s a clear, deliberate attempt to skew the results in favour of one party,” she declared.
