2027: President elected on ADC platform will be accountable – Salihu Lukman

A former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman, has stated that the opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will ensure Nigeria’s President is held accountable if the party wins the 2027 presidential election.

Lukman also criticised the APC, describing it as “damaged” and even worse than the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Friday, Lukman, who once served as the APC National Vice Chairman (North-West), said the ADC has learned from the APC’s failures and will operate differently if it wins the presidency in 2027.

He emphasised that the ADC coalition was formed to create a platform for genuine political struggle aimed at producing an accountable President.

“We must engage our leaders. One of the biggest mistakes we make is assuming leaders will always act rationally and do the right thing on their own.

“Our goal in forming this coalition is to structure it so that, if we produce Nigeria’s President and take charge of governance, those in office will be accountable to the party. The party will then provide proper direction to ensure they deliver on the promises outlined in our manifesto,” Lukman stated.
