Troops of Operation Fansan Yanma have begun a manhunt for armed bandits who kidnapped two farmers in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
According to a post by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama on X, the victims, Halilu Nuhu from Gidan Bawa village and Mamuda Aliyu from Bagarera village, were abducted around noon on Thursday, July 31, while working on their farms.
Reports indicate that about six armed bandits, riding on three motorcycles, invaded the farms and dragged the victims into a nearby forest.
In response, troops quickly mobilised to block possible escape routes and are presently combing suspected hideouts, including forest areas leading to the Niger Republic border.
Security sources confirmed that efforts are ongoing to rescue the kidnapped farmers while military operations to track down and arrest the culprits have been intensified.
