You can’t take Dickson’s glory on infrastructure – Sylva tells Diri

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, has commended Senator Seriake Dickson, a former governor and current Senator representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Senatorial District on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for the construction of the road to Ekeremor Local Government Area after more than 40 years. Sylva expressed his appreciation for this vital project and acknowledged that Dickson has left a lasting legacy through this initiative.

Sylva emphasized the importance of giving credit where it is due and criticized the current Governor, Douye Diri, for taking credit for a road project that was initiated by his predecessor. He considered it ungrateful for Governor Diri to appropriate this achievement to himself.

Furthermore, Sylva praised the people of Ekeremor for their warm reception during his campaign in the area ahead of the November 11 election. He questioned why Governor Diri habitually re-inaugurated projects initiated by his predecessor without acknowledging the efforts of former Governor Dickson. Sylva also highlighted that Diri’s governance would not have been possible without the sacrifices, hard work, and foresight of Dickson.

Sylva recalled Diri’s electoral defeat in 2019, emphasizing that the people are dissatisfied with his administration’s performance over the past three years and are eager to vote him out in the upcoming election. Sylva stated that the people of the local government area, like others across the state, have endured significant hardships under Governor Diri’s administration and are determined to bring about a change.

It’s worth noting that a Federal High Court in Abuja had previously disqualified Sylva from participating in the governorship election, and the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, announced the postponement of the party’s campaign inauguration in the state.

The visit was to physically show solidarity with the wounded, offer support, and wish them a speedy recovery, as well as to thank and encourage the management of the hospital.

Most importantly, it was to send a message to the victims that we stand together in condemnation of any senseless act of violence and killing in our country.

Once again, I sincerely send my condolences to the Government of Kano State, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, and the people of Kano over this very sad incident. I extend my thoughts and prayers, especially to the families of the victims.
