Bayelsa Guber: INEC raises alarm, says staff held hostage in Brass LG

According to reports, INEC officials are reportedly being held hostage in the area. The Commission expressed its concern through a post on its social media platform, X, on Sunday.

This development occurred in the aftermath of the gubernatorial election in the state. INEC emphasized that such actions are harmful to the credibility of elections and urged security agencies to promptly intervene and ensure the release of their officials. The official statement stated, “The current situation unfolding in Brass Local Government Area is of great concern to the Commission, where our officials are being held hostage. This poses a threat to the integrity of the electoral process, and we appeal to the security agencies to take immediate steps to secure their release.”
