The Political Commission of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has criticized Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), labeling him as a “struggling aspiring political figure.”

According to the NLC, Abure has failed to gain the trust of many key stakeholders within the party.

The commission reiterated that the Labour Party is under the jurisdiction of the NLC and highlighted Abure’s violation of a court order regarding the party’s ownership.

In a statement signed by Comrade Titus Amba, Chairperson of the NLC Political Commission, and Comrade Chris Uyot, Secretary of the NLC Political Commission, they expressed their disdain for Abure’s recent statements.

The statement emphasized that Abure has repeatedly disregarded a court judgment and an agreement supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which stipulated the organization of an all-inclusive National Convention for the Labour Party.

While Abure attempts to evade accountability for convening a National Convention without sole ownership, the NLC reaffirmed its position as the rightful custodian of the Labour Party. They cited historical, legal, and judicial backing for this claim, justifying their demand for Abure’s resignation.

Referring to a March 20, 2018 judgment by Justice Gabriel Kolawole, the NLC reminded Abure that the Labour Party belongs to them, and a comprehensive National Convention should rectify the issues caused by individuals like Abure.

The NLC acknowledged the challenges faced by impostors when confronted by rightful owners but emphasized their determination to reclaim what rightfully belongs to them, backed by the law and historical precedence.

In conclusion, the NLC declared their commitment to reclaiming and revitalizing the Labour Party for the benefit of sincere and patriotic politicians who genuinely aim to impact the lives of ordinary citizens. They dismissed Abure’s attempts to undermine their authority, asserting their resolve to uphold their rights as legitimate stakeholders in the Labour Party.

The Forum of All Progressives Congress State Chairmen has expressed full support for the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, by passing a vote of confidence in him.

A delegation comprising 37 state party chairmen asserted that there was an attempted coup to oust Ganduje from his position as APC National Chairman, but it was unsuccessful.

This declaration was made during a solidarity visit to the party’s secretariat in Abuja, where they reaffirmed their loyalty to Ganduje.

The acting chairman of the forum and Lagos APC chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, stated that they stand firmly behind Ganduje and are prepared to defend him against any external threats.

“We want to assure you that you remain the leader of our party. The individuals who announced your removal were not recognized members of the party to begin with. We will not allow you to face the same embarrassment as former chairmen of the party.”
