Oborevwori now leader of our party in Delta – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has confirmed that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is now recognized as the leader of the party in the state.

This was announced in a statement issued by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, following Governor Oborevwori’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC on Monday, April 28, 2025.

Addressing the leadership dynamics within the party, the APC emphasized that Oborevwori’s new role is in line with party tradition, which designates the sitting governor of an APC-controlled state as the state party leader.

“This principle is non-negotiable and reflects our established practice nationwide,” the statement said. “Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON, made this position clear during the governor’s defection ceremony, representing the national leadership’s stance. This directive must be upheld by all party members in Delta State.”

The party condemned any individual still claiming to be the APC leader in Delta State, calling such actions arrogant and unacceptable. It warned that any attempt to dispute Governor Oborevwori’s leadership would be considered a provocation and would face strict disciplinary action.

The statement added, “The APC in Delta is fully aligned with Governor Oborevwori’s leadership and remains committed to his M.O.R.E. agenda for good governance. We call on those pushing divisive agendas to stop immediately, as the party will resist any effort that threatens our unity and progress.”
