PalmPay Limited, a leading fintech company, has announced plans to empower 5,000 youths and women in Kano State as part of its 2025 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The company’s Managing Director, Chika Nwosu, revealed this during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi II, on Wednesday.
Nwosu explained that the initiative targets women, young people, university students, and members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The visit, he said, was to seek the Emir’s blessings and support for the programme.
He highlighted PalmPay’s rapid growth since launching in Nigeria five years ago, noting that the company now has over 35 million users and was recently named the second fastest-growing company in Africa—and the fastest-growing fintech—by the Financial Times.
As part of efforts to expand its footprint in Northern Nigeria, particularly in Kano, PalmPay aims to improve financial inclusion by offering financial literacy training and business support to individuals and women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
“We are launching a pilot project in Fagge LGA, where we will directly engage with market women. They will receive hands-on training and essential tools to help grow their businesses,” Nwosu said.
In response, Emir Sanusi II expressed appreciation for PalmPay’s CSR efforts and pledged the emirate’s full support. Emphasizing the importance of fintech in strengthening the financial system, he instructed district heads to assist the company in ensuring the programme’s success.
