The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially presented its chairmanship candidates for all six area councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Announcing the results, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Chris Hassan, affirmed that the primary elections were conducted peacefully and transparently.
In Kuje Area Council, Hassan explained that there were initially two aspirants—Mr. Zacharia Danlami and Mr. Michael Jigu. However, Jigu later withdrew, making Danlami the sole contender. He secured all 30 votes to emerge unopposed.
For Abaji Area Council, only one candidate, Mr. Musa Biliyanmu, contested and received all 30 votes, making him the elected candidate.
In the Abuja Municipal Area Council, two aspirants vied for the ticket. Mr. Zadna Dintani won with 24 votes, defeating Mr. William Gaje, who got 12 votes.
In Gwagwalada Area Council, Mr. Kasim Mohammed garnered 19 votes to beat Mr. Rabiu Adamu, who polled 11 votes.
Kwali Area Council saw three candidates compete. Mr. Harruna Mohammed emerged victorious with 13 votes, followed by Mr. Daniel Ibrahim with 11 votes and Mr. Shashim Zaka with six.
The most competitive was Bwari Area Council, where six aspirants contested. Mr. Julius Adamu emerged winner with 19 votes. His closest challenger, Mr. Bitrus Jibada, received six votes, while the other four—Mr. Harruna Mohammed and Mr. Ibrahim Dauda—received one vote each; Mr. Zaka Bello scored none.
Hassan concluded by commending the peaceful conduct of the primaries, emphasizing that they reflected the core values of the PDP. He expressed optimism that all candidates and aspirants would unite to ensure victory for the party in the 2026 general elections.
