Low Turnout Threatens 2025 JAMB Mop-up Exam

Low Turnout Threatens 2025 JAMB Mop-up Exam

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has expressed concern over the low number of candidates who have reprinted their examination slips ahead of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mop-up exam slated for Saturday, June 28, 2025.

In a statement signed by the Board’s Public Communication Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB revealed that only 12,442 out of the 98,232 candidates expected to take part in the exam had reprinted their slips as of Friday morning—a mere 12.6% compliance rate.

“The Board is alarmed by the poor response from candidates in printing their examination notification slips, which are essential for participating in the upcoming exam,” the statement said.

JAMB stressed that the mop-up exam is a special opportunity for those who missed the main UTME to still be considered for admission in 2025, warning that not printing the slip amounts to missing out entirely.

“We urge all affected candidates, especially those who were absent during the main UTME, to immediately print their slips. This is a valuable second chance to be part of this year’s admission process,” Dr. Benjamin urged.

To facilitate the smooth running of the exam, JAMB said it had mobilized resources nationwide and was closely monitoring the turnout based on slip reprints.

“Candidates who fail to print their slips will lose the opportunity to sit for the examination,” the Board warned.

JAMB once again called on all concerned candidates to urgently visit its official website to print their exam notification slips.

“We appeal to all candidates to take action now and print their slips ahead of the exam scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, 28th June 2025,” Dr. Benjamin added.
