Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has praised prominent figures within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition leaders for uniting in a bid to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming election.
He particularly commended PDP leaders who recently left the party to align with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), viewing it as a strategic move.
According to DAILY POST, key PDP figures including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President David Mark, and former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido officially left the PDP on Tuesday. These leaders adopted the ADC as their new platform to contest power from President Bola Tinubu in 2027 and urged others in the PDP to join the new movement.
Reacting on Facebook, Adeyanju expressed satisfaction, declaring that “the PDP is finally dead.”
He wrote, “I’m proud of the opposition for finally coming together. Special appreciation to Atiku, Obi, and other senior opposition leaders for setting aside personal interests to make this happen.”
He added that he hopes Rabiu Kwankwaso will also join the alliance, saying this was the kind of unity they should have embraced ahead of the 2023 elections.
“Whenever you wake up is your morning. Good morning to the opposition,” he concluded.
