The first high-resolution stretchable display in the world, according to LG Display, was unveiled on Tuesday. According to LG, the technology enables the 12-inch screen to be folded, bent, and stretched up to 14 inches without sustaining any damage.
The color display uses micro-LED light sources and is built of the same silicon material as contact lenses. It has a resolution of 100 pixels per inch. LG Display wants to make the new technology widely available. According to LG, the thin, rubber-like material holds potential for the automotive, fashion, and service industries. It can adapt to skin, fabric, and metal machinery like vehicles and airplanes.
A company-led project in collaboration with Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy produced the stretchable display
